The Red Dress Project.

A 13 year award winning global collaborative embroidery project conceived by British artist Kirstie Macleod, provides an artistic platform for women from around the world, many of whom are vulnerable and live in poverty, to tell their personal stories through embroidery.

On Friday 9th June 2023 at Otterbourne Village Hall, the stunning Red Dress was on display for us to view up close. Kirstie Macleod gave a riveting talk, which at times was quite emotional as we listened to the stories of some who stitched a panel for the dress, followed by many questions and answers. After lunch, Kirstie held a very relaxing workshop encouraging us to stitch a small piece of our own personal story - the pressure was off as these were not to be added to the red dress. It was a ticket only event attended by .... ladies, both members and non-members of WTEG in the morning and ..... for the afternoon workshop. Altogether a wonderful day that will resonate in our memories for a long time.
